　　紅血球靠紅血球生成素同鐵離子產生。紅血球生成素是一種賀爾蒙，可以增加紅血球的產生，一般稱為 EPO，EPO 必須在腎臟中合成。

　　當腎臟衰竭時，EPO 無法正常合成，在血液透析過程中造成貧血，需要 EPO 來增加紅血球的產生，在給予 EPO 的同時必須注意體內鐵離子的含量，如果體內鐵不足，注射 EPO 而不給予鐵離子是無法使紅血球產生增加，所以鐵離子的攝取也是非常的重要。體內如缺乏鐵則建議使用口服的鐵劑或注射的鐵劑

　　紅細胞（或稱紅血球）是血液中最通常的一種血細胞，同時也是脊椎動物體內通過血液運送氧氣的最主要的媒介。其它的血細胞，如白血球，則是免疫細胞。

　　紅血球通過血紅蛋白運送氧氣。血紅蛋白是一種含有亞鐵血紅 素的複雜分子，它可以在肺部或腮部臨時與氧氣分子結合，在身體的組織中釋放氧氣分子。血紅蛋白也可以運送由機體產生的二氧化碳（不到氧氣總量的 2%，更多的二氧化碳由血漿解決）。紅血球的 90% 有血紅蛋白組成，這是的血液是紅色的。一種紅血球相關的化合物肌紅蛋白，在肌肉細胞中存儲氧氣。

　　在哺乳動物中，成熟的紅血球是無核的。這意味著它們失去了細胞核以及 DNA（兩棲動物和鳥類的紅血球是有核的）。紅血球也沒有線粒體，它們通過葡萄糖合成能量。

Me Is Me...

From the time I was little, I knew I was great

'cause the people would tell me, "You'll make it--just wait."

But they never did tell me how great I would be

if I ever played someone who was greater than me.

When I'm in the back yard, I'm king with the ball.

But all of a sudden there's a man in my face
